Water and reflection!

The water scene was done using a brayer.  Betty is teaching me this technique. It is very fun and appeals to my more artistic side and reminds me of canvas painting classes.  We made the first island with dark colors then put some water between and flipped the card to make a mirror image to give the look of a reflection.  We masked the moon with a sticky note and then added some dark smokey lines across the moon. The trick with the brayer is to not pick the brayer up on your piece of art work  as it leaves a line. Move the paper with your left hand as you run the brayer with your right. Move the brayer on and completely off your design. I think this is a great and fun way to get a different look. Try this with your halloween projects it makes it look SPOOKY!  The fluffy flower is made by using felt or fabric to form the flower.  Cut the fabric to the with you want your flower to be, then sew wrong sides together. We used a hand needle and thread for this one.  Cut up to the sewn edge but not through the thread, you may make your cuts as thin or wide as you like. This felt was multi colored so it made a nice flower! We use crystal effects and then glued the flower to a circle punched background to help us form our flower shape.  The next card is made with our new three in one flower punch.  The bird was embossed in white and it gave the special pop to the project.  We were blessed with cooler weather and rain today so enjoy your weekend and create something beautiful!

Banners, Balls and Butterflies!

Hey my stamp friends! Wow did I ever have a blessed day yesterday! I went to Wylie to the antique house to take a cricut class.  Not only did I learn a great deal I got to spend the day with several of my fun stamp friends! So, thanks Nancy, Betty, Carol, and Rita, for the fun day and lots of laughter! It is the best therapy ever! My sweet Rusty had given me the machine for Christmas a couple of years back and I had not used it very much, so I was very excited to have a class that taught me how to use all of the features and now my house will never get cleaned! Those of you that know me know it really does not get cleaned now so no PROBLEM! LOL!  The red and white banner card was made with the pendant punch and it looks great in a variety of colors! You can use as  many banners as you like and spell out words on them.  I loved the ball card as it was so bright and yet easy and simple to make.  You punch a variety of circles or any shapes out of different colors. Then you run them all through the lattice embossing folder after yo have glued them down on the card top.  Then add any design or sentiment to the top with some bling and you have a great and fun card ready in a flash!  The next card has the vintage look that I  just love.  I used a plastic stamp block with no stamp on it and loaded it with color. Then stamped it on the card for the background color. Then I stamped the design on top of it. The embossing folder just gave it that added touch to finish off the card!

Coffee, Candy,and Crafts!

These words could be on my fun list of things to do!  I love to have a hot cup of flavored coffee, and some great chocolates, and then craft the day away! The coffee cup card I made with my stamp friend Betty! She is a great designer and we have so much fun working or really playing together!  You know all of the STUFF that you have collected cause you might make something out of it?  I got your attention right?  Well we just take that great stuff and make some projects and sometime it turns out to be my favorite project of the day! That was the case on this coffee cup card.  The candy spinner card is made with  one of our new sets from stampin up! I love the bright colors and you can do so much with this design, add a few wrapped life safer candies and anyone would love to get this card! This next card reminds me of a couple of my new friends Sue and Alma. They love to sew and they both are so creative! Sue helped me with a project this week and I hope to post it for you soon, it is especially for us crafty ladies! So, go gather up some of your stuff and be inspired to make new projects and new friends!

Remember the Old Clothes Line out Back!

OK this will really date me! Did you ever run under the clothes line playing outside and and almost break your neck! My Mother loved to hang her bed sheets out and give them that fresh air smell! Well this card is my version of the clothe line. This twine is so versatile and you can hang flowers, butterflies, circles, etc!  I just punched designer paper and and folded them in half, then the background was made with the new stripes embossing folder.  The detail on the white card stock is one of our  new jumbo rollers, if you have not tried rollers they are so fun and you can do so many things with them.  I love to use them for rolling my gift bag and tissue paper to make a gift set!   The next card was done with a brayer and a sticky note! Punch the moon out of the sticky note, make sure the sticky part is on the top of the moon.  Place the sticky note cut out on the card to make the "MASK" that will protect your design and give the outline for your moon. Brayer in any color you wish and see the fun results. You can make it as dark as you like it. This is a great Halloween card or scrapbook page! See my last post with Cat card!

Fall Moon!

This cute fall cat on the moon was made at our first annual retreat in Wylie Texas! We sure had a blast and made lots of new friendships not to mention over 35 cards and 3-d projects! We use a dauber to add the dark smokey look over the moon. You can use any Halloween stamp you have to set the focal point of your card.   Thanks for this great design Betty! The pink card was done mostly with punches and the background was done with an embossing folder! The strawberry card was done with my stamp friend Ann and used our new punches! Quick easy and lots of fun!

Elegance With Color!

These three cards all have several different techniques in them.  They each have a colored base that has been run through an embossing folder.   I have used punches, colored small stamps with markers to get a variety of colored flowers, and used a dauber with color to accent the doily and punched sentiments.  I hope you get some great inspiration from these cards, I sure had fun making them. Cards class this Wednesday night at 6:30 14916 Riverside Drive, Little Elm Texas 75068  Come and Join the fun!  Call for questions 979-255-0377

Men Love This!

My honey loves to cook on the grill.  And I love it when he cooks! We just had our 30th Anniversary and celebrated in Borne Texas at Tapatio Springs Resort! We attended Dean Johnson's wedding and visited with our daughter in law to be Ashley Nelson, who is now teaching and coaching at Bandera High School. We had a lovely time and enjoyed visiting with lots of old friends and making new ones too!  My honey surprised me with a set of beautiful pearl earrings and a ring to celebrate our wonderful 30 years together.
