Caldwell Retreat at Land Of Refuge Craft Barn "Moonlight Forest"

This card is stamped with a black ink and scene stamps by scenescapes.  We first rolled the white card stock with a brayer with a yellow ink.  We punched a circle shape out of a post it note and glued it down before rolling on  the color.  This gives the scene a moon or sun effect.  We then rolled on a light orange ink, over the yellow and went down about a third of the page. Remove the post it note circle but save it to make another card, and you can use different sizes and move them around on your scene.  Next we added a light and dark blue on the bottom half with the brayer to serve as the water.  I stamped in the trees and rocks, and then the water stamp over the blue to make it look as if the water was rolling buy. Then I stamped just the tip of the trees in the water to give the reflection in the water. I took a dauber or a sponge and added the yellow, and orange into the water to give the reflection of the moon or sun. I used my white roller ball pen to give the trees, water and the moon and sky some white accent lines.  I then mounted the card on black card stock.  The scene card reminds me of the country scene at the Land of Refuge retreat in Caldwell Texas for information call Carol 512-560-0933. www.facebook.com/LandOfRefugeRetreatCenter

Never can have too many purses!

This purse gift card holder was designed by Freddie Heuss from Temple.  This is a very cute gift bag, or a great way to give a set of greeting cards to a friend.  We used the bottom half of a white gift bag to make the base of the purse and then added designer paper and a ribbon handle to the top to make it look like a ladies purse.   The cute flower on the front was just the finishing touch to this project.  I have a friend that is home after surgery and I will make  her one full of Thank you cards to send to out for those that help take care of  her now that she is home! I like to add a roller ball pen in a bright color that matches the cards I put inside.  This is a fun little remembrance.

Cup Cake Birthday Card

This picture is not very good but you can see the cute design of the Birthday card.  It was my grand daughter's first birthday and I left the retreat to go to her party, so this cup cake card was a special and fun card to make.  This card was designed my stamp friend Lorna Thurston.  The white portion has been cut with the stampin up top note die. The cup cake is a stampin up punch and sure made it easy for us to make this design. The Birthday party was wonderful and we had cupcakes to go along with the cupcake card!

Lovely Caldwell Retreat, & Lovely As A Tree Reflection Thank You Card!

We are back from the "Land Of Refuge" Caldwell retreat craft barn, and as I promised here are some of the beautiful things we made!  This retreat is out in the country and has a relaxed atmosphere. It is a wonderful family owned retreat that is a great place to spend some time with friends and stamp, craft, sew etc.  I will add a hit to her place so you can click and see more and she is also on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/LandOfRefugeRetreatCenter
This card design was made by my sweet friend Barbara Thomas from the Summerville area.  She had everything all cut and ready so that we all could make her card. This is the most popular stamping up stamp, Lovely As A Tree! We stamped on shinny photo paper for the top portion of the card with black ink.  We then sponged blue ink into the sky, I used a paper towel and tore it with up and down motion.  I then used a sponge to add the ink around the torn paper to give it the look of fluffy clouds. I like to use one side and then flip it over to get the same part upside down and I like the "clouds" this techniques makes.  The bottom half of the card is stamped on velum, and dried with a heat gun. The goal of this part of the card is to give the reflection of the trees in water.  You tear the bottom of the velum off to give it a look of a landscape. Flip the stamp side of velum face down and glue it to your card.  We then sponged green for grass under the trees both on shinny card base and over the vellum .  The next step is to add more sponged blue behind the trees that are reflected in the water.  Try to leave some white area to also reflect the white in the sky. The more you make this card the more fun it gets!  This card was one of my favorite and it sends a big THANK YOU, too all of my group and to the Land Of Refuge for this fun time.

Card Making Therapy

This card lets the die cuts do the work! The first layer is flat and the next one is on dimensionals.  I love the elegant style and this two...
